About the Designer
Designer Flor Amazona - Style and Stories

Flor Amazona is the brainchild of Colombian jewelry virtuoso Ana Maria Sarmiento. Aiming to spread the magic of Colombia, she seamlessly fuses traditional pre-Columbian gold work with contemporary styles. As such, she has carved herself a fine niche in the crème de la crème of Colombian custom jewelry. Each and every one of her exotic, eclectic creations is handmade by indigenous tribes from the Amazonian rainforest.

Working closely with the Wayuu and the Embera tribes, Ana Maria has made it her mission to keep alive and recode traditional Colombian handcraft. Thus, she provides these native communities with much needed educational support.

Pompon

Using her luxuriant fashion line Maria y el Rey as the starting point for this capote, Adriana Santacruz designed the lavish and colorful Pompon. The result is this stunning piece created out of three horizontal rectangles pieces of loom in the colors royal blue, black and lime. Can be worn as a vest or a poncho. An absolute statement piece entirely made by hand by Ecuadorian and South-Colombian native tribes, who still employ the centuries-old technique of loom weaving. The hand-woven fabrics are 100% made of organic cotton or wool and dyed with natural coloring
