From dreaming of becoming an entrepreneur to finally being one!
I still find it hard to believe, but I did it!!! As of today, I can officially call myself an entrepreneur. Finally I’ve realized my long time dream! A dream that started 15 years ago and that evolved into a goal that I felt I had to achieve no matter what.
All the important life decisions I have taken so far are all –one way or the other- connected to achieving my dream: starting up an import company and creating a platform through which I can offer renowned South American designers the opportunity to access new international markets. But also I want to give customers – that are looking for something different – the opportunity to purchase beautiful and unique designs. These customers are not exactly interested in ‘fast fashion’. Rather, they appreciate quality, timelessness and sustainability. Style and Stories offers real statement pieces that are not just stylish, but also have an inspirational story behind it.
The last couple of months I have dedicated all my time, heart and soul into achieving my dream. I had to cope with ups and downs and had to endure a substantial dose of blood, sweat and tears. Yet thus far I have not regretted one single moment of this journey. I have learnt so much. I started from scratch and had to do everything by myself, but I managed to push through. This gives such an amazing feeling and I am so damn proud of myself. This is my greatest accomplishment in life up to now. No one can ever take that away from me.
You may wonder: who is this entrepreneurial woman? I am half Colombian and half Dutch: a mixture of two cultures. The Netherlands is the place where I was born, where I studied, where I started my professional career and where I have made friendships for life. It’s the country and culture that influenced the way I think and live. At the same time, being raised by my Colombian mother, she taught me to appreciate the value of family, food, music and dancing. She was and still is a definite role model when it comes to living your passion, while remaining strong, independent and refusing to give up. If it wasn’t for her strength and braveness, I for sure would not be the person I am today.
I am super curious to hear what you think of Styles and Stories, so drop a line if you like. And please don’t hesitate to share this with all your friends and relatives!
Con mucho amor,
Elizabeth
