Flor Amazona is the brainchild of Colombian jewelry virtuoso Ana Maria Sarmiento. After she graduated in Business & Finance, she began working for a bank, the United Nations and a big cosmetics brand. Although her roots lie in Bucaramanga in the Andes Mountains, she has lived in Europe, the United States and Asia for quite a number of years, before returning back to her birthplace Colombia.
Aiming to spread the magic of Colombia, she seamlessly fuses traditional pre-Columbian gold work with contemporary styles. As such, she has carved herself a fine niche in the crème de la crème of Colombian custom jewelry. Each and every one of her exotic, eclectic creations are handmade by indigenous tribes from the Amazonian rainforest.

Working closely with the Wayuu and the Embera tribes, Ana Maria has made it her mission to keep alive and recode traditional Colombian handcraft. Thus, she provides these native communities with much needed educational support.
Although the results perfectly speak for themselves –her jewelry pieces have become a staple accessory all throughout Latin America-, her gems evoke an ultra-fresh yet chic take on Colombian aesthetics and artistry. Pushing conventional Latin boundaries and testing the limits of modern accessory design, Flor Amazona opts for a truly glamazon style.”
